Within Temptation - Ice Queen

Europa ha estado lanzando al estrellato a muchos grupos Góticos durante los últimos 5 años. Y obviamente, sólo los buenos son los que perduran en el tiempo y terminan siendo reconocidos por todos.

Uno de estos grupos es Within Temptation. Esta es una banda formada en Holanda (1996) por el guitarrista Robert Westerholt (n. 2 de Enero de 1975) y Sharon Den Adel (n. 12 de Julio de 1974) la cantante e imagen principal del grupo. Sin embargo, esta banda alcanzó la popularidad en Europa recien en el año 2002 con la edición de su álbum Mother Earth y su famoso single Ice Queen.

Posteriormente, la consagración mundial les llegó con la aparición del disco The Silent Force y el single Stand My Ground en el 2004. La gracia de este grupo a mi parecer, aparte de la calidad musical y buenísima voz de esta cantante, es la exclusión de esas voces masculinas guturales que a veces resultan molestas para muchas personas.

La canción Ice Queen fácilmente se podría traducir como el frío invierno que toma la imagen de una destructora y malvada mujer que acaba con toda forma de vida a su paso. En otras palabras, esta canción se podria asumir como una singular adaptación de La Reina de las Nieves, uno de los famosos cuentos de Hans Christian Andersen.
