Marillion - Kayleigh

Los Británicos Marillion dejaron con la canción Kayleigh una de las más grandes huellas en el rock y pop de los años 80. A pesar de ser lanzado hace más de veinte años, este es un tema aún vigente y especial para muchas personas. Y seguramente, el público en general le segurá rindiendo tributo por mucho tiempo más.

Kayleigh apareció en el álbum Misplaced Childhood de 1985 y fue escrita por Fish (n. 25 de Abril de 1958), el vocalista de esta progresiva banda, de quien se dice le dedicó este tema a una ex pareja llamada Kay Lee como una gran disculpa por haber echado a perder una relación y luego terminar por su egoísta búsqueda del éxito musical. Fish reconoce no sólo escribirle esta canción a una sola mujer, sino a otras cuatro ex parejas que el recuerda en distintos pasajes de la canción por medio de ciertos eventos que nombra.

Y tanto fue el éxito de este tema, que a finales del 2005 un estudio reveló que más del 96% de las británicas llamadas Kayleigh nacieron después del año 1986. Sin duda, bautizadas en honor a esta preciosa canción. También se comprobó que alrededor del mundo muchas otras niñas también se llaman asi debido a este motivo.
