Shot In The Dark es mi canción favorita del padrino del Heavy Metal. Aunque reconozco el no haberla tomado en cuenta por algún tiempo, ahora debo decir que la escucho una y otra vez siempre encontrándole algo nuevo. Sobretodo, por la voz de Ozzy Osbourne, que en ciertos momentos le plasma una gran brillantez a este tema. Realmente me agrada y emociona demasiado escuchar como canta aqui.

Apareció en el disco The Ultimate Sin (1986) y fue co escrita con el bajista, Phil Soussan (n. 23 de Junio de 1963) quien aparte de tocar las cuatro cuerdas, también es compositor y productor musical. Este single es considerado uno de los más grandes éxitos de Ozzy debido a que supo orientar su música a un lado más cercano al Glam Rock con melódicos solos de guitarra y el uso de sintetizadores que estaban tan de moda en los grupos Heavy del momento.

La letra: Literalmente es una canción acerca de un asesino a sueldo arrepentido de seguir cometiendo tal detestable labor. Y también podría ser tomada como la guerra interna de alguien que le ha hecho daño a terceros por seguir la voluntad de otros. Ahora da la impresión que ha tomado las riendas de su propia vida y se da cuenta que aquellos que lo privan de ser como quiere ser, son en realidad los verdaderos enemigos que tiene que eliminar.
