Days Of The New - Touch Peel And Stand

La primera impresión que tuve al ver a Days Of The New con su canción Touch Peel And Stand, fue pensar: Acaso el vocalista se cree Chris Cornell?, es este otro Soundgarden?. En realidad, la música de esta esta banda es similar a Soundgarden, pero mucho más digerible a la primera escucha.

Touch Peel And Stand apareció en el disco Days Of The New (1997) más conocido como el Orange Album, de ahí también se sacaron dos exitosos singles: The Shelf In The Room y The Down Town, pero no tuvieron la gracia de durar 17 semanas en el Billboard Rock Chart como el single del que estoy hablando. Por cierto, el éxito de esta banda le valió salir de gira con los mismísimos Metallica, que ya a esas alturas nada tenían que ver con el Heavy ni el Thrash.

Y la letra: A simple vista pareciera ser el punto de vista de un abusador sexual frente a su víctima. En mi opinión, me parece que este tema habla de una relación unida sólo por el sexo. Nuestro protagonista se da cuenta que todo lo que han hecho nunca le molestó a él ni a ella. Entonces, ahora no hay por qué inventar excusas para intimar. Estamos juntos, tú abusas de mi y yo de ti, pues sigamos en esto mientras ninguno de los dos se queje.
